Mysteries, Yes – by Mary Oliver
Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous
to be understood.
How grass can be nourishing in the
mouths of the lambs.
How rivers and stones are forever
in allegiance with gravity
while we ourselves dream of rising.
How two hands touch and the bonds will
never be broken.
How people come, from delight or the
scars of damage,
to the comfort of a poem.
Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.
Let me keep company always with those who say
“Look!” and laugh in astonishment,
and bow their heads.

We were really pleased that our videographer at Holy Cross Faith Memorial, Marsh Deane, joined us today for our walk and produced this fabulous short video that encapsulates the wonder, beauty and awe of Huntington Beach State Park and one of the reasons we “Walk in Wonder”. Thank you, Marsh!

Stillness, peace, joy, awe
Sojourn into winter here
Soul journeys deeper.

“We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked with dew… Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful… and all of us are given the task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things.” – Bishop Desmond Tutu
Opening reflection 12.18.21 read by Denise P.

As I began walking my attention quickly wandered to the glorious smells of the day… clean salt ocean air, pine forests, the sweet and earthy smell of the pond… How can we make the world a little more hospitable for all of earth’s wonders? The absolute delight of seeing, feeling, smelling and hearing each one of the treasures…
