- Everything is Waiting for You
Your great mistake is to act the drama
as if you were alone. As if life
were a progressive and cunning crime
with no witness to the tiny hidden
transgressions. To feel abandoned is to deny
the intimacy of your surroundings. Surely,
even you, at times, have felt the grand array;
the swelling presence, and the chorus, crowding
out your solo voice You must note
the way the soap dish enables you,
or the window latch grants you freedom.
Alertness is the hidden discipline of familiarity.
The stairs are your mentor of things
to come, the doors have always been there
to frighten you and invite you,
and the tiny speaker in the phone
is your dream-ladder to divinity.
Put down the weight of your aloneness and ease into
the conversation. The kettle is singing
even as it pours you a drink, the cooking pots
have left their arrogant aloofness and
seen the good in you at last. All the birds
and creatures of the world are unutterably
themselves. Everything is waiting for you.

Community is the hope for all of us.
Photo and reflection by Nancy B.

My intention for today was to feel lifted up and connected in community. This was easy to recognize in a group of pelicans flying south. What surprised me was one pelican flying back north only to return with another, then again one pelican flying north and this time returning with a new group to join the others. This made me think that no one is to be left behind. Once we are lifted up and connected in community it is up to us to share that love with all whom we can reach.

My intention for today was focused on healing and comfort… as my Mom had been sick all week. As I walked briefly on the beach, I was overcome by the tremendous stillness, peace and beauty of the ocean and sky… My thoughts of healing migrated to thoughts of the power of peace and stillness and beauty in the healing process — and to the ultimate power of love. The inland pond along the Sandpiper Trail also exuded the peace and tranquility of the day…
Peace and beauty here.
This moment provides soul food.
Be love and healing.
