Brookgreen Gardens -Feb. 6, 2016

My intention today, to walk with allowing: “Let the earth absorb what you carry; it will cushion with love, forgiveness, and peace.”

Sometimes the way through is obscured, the stepping stones barely visible. With care-full attention, we clear away the debris, uncovering the artistry that supports our walking.

What blooms: hidden and bold, sheltered and vulnerable. It’s not what you look at; it’s what you see. It’s all here.

I notice the live oak leaning next to the pond, held fast, limbs outstretched, as in offering, as in balancing, carrying resurrection on its back.

The best walk so far for me. I saw so many things I have never seen before walking the same paths. And I heard the birds, SO MANY BIRDS; everything speaking today.    –  Reflection by Pixie K.

On this sunny crisp February day I focused on change. Change, something that never stops. It is as sure as the tide coming in and out and one’s breathing up and down. It can be a like a rhythm set in motion by cravings and aversions.

Today I saw all around me signs of change. The path through the wet nature trail brought me to a bridge to ‘make it over’ and be able to continue onwards. The waterway once used by the Huntingtons as a delivery route for sculpture brought by a barge so many years ago. The fields empty but used to grow rice using so many slaves from Africa making others so rich.

Change often can make me feel alone. But I am once more reminded looking about that no change comes without pain, loss. With it comes wisdom, growth and excitement as well. It challenges me and requires much patience. What remains despite change is hope and visible signs of God’s presence and love. How wonderful to keep alive and present in my life those things. Courage helps me to share that with others as we travel together, connected by life’s changes.
