The 23rd Psalm

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I was feeling so grateful for the wonders around me and the people who were sharing this morning with me and then I looked out at the horizon to see the rainbow of colors paving the way for the sun to rise!
It was absolutely glorious! What a blessing! My cup was overflowing with the joy & thankfulness it brought me!

Seeing the morning light, I reflected back on my feelings from the darkness as we began the walk to the brilliance and light as we finished. In the early morning dark, excitement, anticipation and hope for the light of the new day. Creative feelings one has at beginnings. Then with the sun rising, a warmth, light, assurance and peace.
Following the sun, the words I heard again. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

I walked with the intention today of “being in the moment”… of appreciating and savoring each moment… with less focus on expectations and the future. The incredible waves spoke very loudly to me today — cresting and foaming… ebbing and flowing. There was a gentle rhythm and fluidity, while at the same time each wave was unique and fleeting. Watching and integrating this rhythm and impermanence grounded me in the beauty of the moment. But I also recognized the deep foundation and mystery of the ocean below the  fleeting waves. Nature has such lessons to teach about living in and appreciating the moment.

And the sunrise — oh, the sunrise! It was a wondrous pallete of colors across the horizon — not screaming with intensity, but gently and gloriously bidding good day. Another reminder to be in the moment, as the sunrise soon released its rainbow colors and surrendered to beautiful blue skies.
