Invitation of the Day
There are times when I have no idea
what comes next & it’s the thing I’ve
come to love most about being alive:
leaning in to hear the invitation
of each day & feeling my whole
body melt when I say
yes, yes, yes.

As I headed back to the starting point, to re-meet fellow walkers, I noticed a gathering of cypress knees on the rim of the pond. I got down on my own knees to look closer. Drawn to the variety of really green greens, I sat a while and noticed hundreds of small circular plants looking like confetti resting on the surface of a tiny stream of water. As I watched, I saw the stream move, first right for a spell, then return, in a rhythm of sorts. Over and over again. The moment had me. I began to breathe in time with the movement in front of me: inhale, pause, exhale, pause, repeat. I let the water’s movement guide the pace. It was prayer, “Breathe me in; Breathe me out.” Those few minutes, I knew what it meant to feel one with everything. Photo and reflection by Amy
I was reminded by the gentle beauty and stillness of nature of the importance of balancing “being” and “doing”… The feathery green branches, dappled sunlight through the trees, pines reaching to the sun, heron elegantly strutting, water gently rippling… all “being” one with nature and God… Photos and reflection by Nancy L.
